HOW CAN THE SCHOOL BECOME MORE EQUITABLE?

Write an opinion piece 400-600 words long sharing how you think our school can be made more equitable. Send it to [email protected] by Thursday, October 14th for a chance to be published in the end-of-term ENN magazine or on our website, epeaglenewsnetwork.com.

Need help coming up with a direction? Let one of these prompts guide your response:

  • What actions do you think teachers can take? The administration? Students?
  • How can the school become a more inclusive and safe learning space for all students?
  • Share an example of an inequity in the school that you want others to be aware about. What ideas do you have to improve the situation?
  • What does equity in the school look like to you? Why is it important to you?

Tips:

  • Support your opinion with evidence: research facts or use personal experience.
  • Narrow your focus. Dive deep into your thoughts to provide a fresh perspective.
  • Write for your audience. In other words, write something you would want to read.
  • Focus on content. We’ll take care of grammar and edits for you.
