The Election
By Anna Larionova
Donald Trump won the presidency on Nov. 8 and will be inaugurated on January 20, 2017.
Although his victory is surprising, especially with outstanding victories in certain swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Florida, his lead grew in the past couple of weeks. Minnesota was blue for Clinton, but his strong early lead and mixture of swing states brought him the win.
What does this mean for America? It’s hard to tell right now, especially considering Obama still has his remaining time in office. Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence, are both Republicans, along with Congress. However, the effect on EPHS will most likely be acute.
In other election news, Steve Cwodzinski won the race for State Senate, which will have a huge impact on EPHS and the whole district. The grassroots campaign was a rough uphill battle, but his victory is yet another example of how a passionate community can create powerful change.
It’ll take a while to see the full effect of these results, so stay informed on the issues and the politicians that are dealing with them.
