Tips for surviving finals week
BY ELIZABETH BUSE
The homework and tests will start piling up for finals week. It is important to stay on task and get your work done. Finals week is always something students dread, but it is a good way to bump up the grades. Keep that in mind during the week. There are four days to get through and then we have a long, relaxing break. Here are some helpful tips to survive finals week.
- Stay on task. It is easy to want to grab your phone and check the feed or to finish the last episode of Netflix. But I promise you will thank yourself if you get your homework done first. A good tip is to put your phone in another room or turn it off until your homework is complete. It is important to have time management and prioritize the things that need to be done for the day.
- Be well rested. You won’t be able to learn or remember material if you are exhausted and have a headache because you stayed up past midnight last night. It is crucial to get 8 hours of sleep, especially during finals week. Get your work done and go to sleep early, so you can be well rested for tests and school.
- Stay caught up. If you know you have a busy night, work ahead the night before. Try to not miss classes or tests. This will result in extra time and energy studying and making up for the missed class time. You want to leave Thursday not having any missing work or tests, so you can have a relaxing, stress free break.
- Have free time. Even though it is finals week, you can’t study and focus on school for 24 hours a day. It is important to de-stress and relax. Get some exercise or do an activity that you like to do. Get your mind of school for an hour or so. Take study breaks every once in a while.
