DECA’s PowderPuff is soon
On September 30, DECA will be hosting their fourth annual PowderPuff charity game. The freshman/sophomore game will start at 5 p.m. and the junior/senior game will start at 7 p.m.
The game is dedicated to Kate Fronek, who recently lost her battle to cancer. “Kickoff for Kate” is raising funds to “tackle” childhood cancer. All proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Research Fund, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Children’s Cancer Fund.
“This year we hope to raise more than $18,000” said senior Ethan Jones. Jones is hopeful that this event will raise more money than it did last year. He said, “I encourage people to come to the PowderPuff game on Saturday. The event is for a great cause and all proceeds are donated to charity.”
The PowderPuff event will also have a raffle and winners will be announced at the PowderPuff event on Saturday.. DECA members will be selling raffle tickets for multiple prizes. Prizes include: a round of golf for 4 at Bearpath Golf and Country Club, an iPad, 4 Wild Hockey tickets, Gift card bundle 1: Kona, Crave, Kowalski’s, Nothing Bundt Cakes, etc. and Gift card bundle 2: Kona, Redstone, Kowalski’s, Punch, etc.
There will be opportunities for volunteering for the PowderPuff event. On Friday night, students will be able to decorate the city of Eden Prairie. “DECArate for Kate” will be putting up balloons and other decorating items in the color of orange and teal. Orange represents Leukemia and the color teal was Kate’s favorite color. Students will be able to sign up to volunteer for this event through DECA, NHS, Key Club or Student Council.
