Winterguard won regionals

Last weekend, Winterguard competed in a regional competition in Omaha, Nebraska. Both the JV and Varsity teams won their classes. Both teams won prelims and then went on to improve their score to take first in the finals. Varsity got the second highest regional competition score in the nation in their class this year, which, when combined with past results, gives then the fourth place seed for WGI World Finals later this year.

So far, this has been Winterguard’s best scoring season; they scored 2.5 points higher at this regionals year compared to last year. “We’re well on track for a very good season,” said junior Ashley Tostenson, a captain of the Varsity team.

The team had a lot of fun and made a lot of good memories. They got to meet and become friends with many other teams. “They are all extremely talented, and it was amazing to be able to compete against them as friends instead of rivals,” said Tostenson.

Now, Winterguard is preparing for WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio in April. They are hosting their home show on Saturday, March 25 and their circuit’s state championships the following Saturday, April 1.  After the season is over, they will start training for fall marching band.
