Running the Rainbow
October 2, 2015
Colors were flying on Saturday, September 26th at the Eden Prairie color run put on by FEPS (The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools). The outcome was unbelievable. After online registration ended, about 360 people were registered. By the start of the race the number had soared up to almost 500 participants.
The football stadium was filled with participants ready to get puked on by a rainbow, and I was one of them. Eager to run, I went up to the starting line with other people from the community; students, families, teachers, kids and more. When the race started, everyone took off and started their five kilometer long journey through the different color stations. As the runners ran they were rained on by different colors of blue, red, orange, purple and green.
The race started in the football stadium, went twice around Round Lake and then back to the football stadium where you could collect a medal and eat food from local restaurants such as Wildfire and Kona Grille. Eating the food felt like a great way to reward myself after participating in such a riveting run.
The annual 5K changes theme year to year, but with the “color run” theme being such a hit, hopefully they will continue this theme for future runs. On a beautiful day, the Eden Prairie community participated in a run for fun to support Eden Prairie schools and I am thrilled to have been apart of it. I anticipate for even more people to register for runs to come. So grab a group of friends, meet your community and get covered in color while doing it.
