Ways to Stay Motivated

With a new quarter starting up, many students have a motivated mindset and are determined to keep their grades up. It is refreshing to start a new quarter, but as weeks go by, it is easy to become distracted and unmotivated. So, what can you do to stay on a successful path?

If you are ever in a lazy, “I don’t care about my grades anymore” mood, think about how good you feel when you ace a test and how badly you feel when you fail one. If you do feel lazy, take a short break and return to your work later.

Take study breaks. One of the greatest ways to relieve stress is physical exercise. Go to the gym, take a walk, go for a run, take a yoga class, do anything that can revive your brain and impel you to keep working hard.

Another helpful tip is to change up your learning styles. If the way you study doesn’t seem to be very effective, or doesn’t work well, change it. Once you figure out how you learn best, use it to your advantage. Most of us get a bit too comfortable with the way we study and do our homework.

Being a high school student it can appear to be impossible to get a suitable amount of sleep, but it is very important in order to remain healthy and rejuvenated. Try not to procrastinate after school so you can get to bed as early as possible. Focus on getting your homework done and use your time wisely during school so you don’t have as much homework at night.

One of the biggest distractions when doing your homework is your cell phone. Put it away. It makes the challenge of studying and doing your homework that much harder. You will be much more productive and stay focused longer if you are not constantly being interrupted by your phone.

Try to stay motivated with these helpful tips, it will only make school easier for you, and it will be worth it in the end.
